How to Use the Foodedo Weekly Meal Plan (Step-by-Step)
February 26, 2026
Plan your week of meals in Foodedo in three steps: add recipes to each day, generate your shopping list, and share with your household. Here’s how to use the Foodedo weekly meal plan.

The Foodedo weekly meal plan lets you assign recipes to each day of the week, then generate one shopping list from that plan. You open the meal plan, add recipes from your collection (or discover new ones), and when you’re ready you create a shopping list from the plan. You can also add chalkboard items and share the plan and list with your household. This post walks you through how to use the Foodedo weekly meal plan step by step.
What the weekly plan does
The Foodedo weekly meal plan is a single view of your week (e.g. Monday–Sunday) where you slot in which recipe you’re cooking on which day. Once the week is filled (or partly filled), you generate a shopping list that combines all the ingredients from those recipes. The plan is the source of truth for “what’s for dinner,” and the list is what you take to the shop. If you’re in a household, everyone can see the same plan and list.
Step 1: Open the meal plan
In Foodedo, go to the meal plan from your dashboard. You’ll see the current week with a slot for each day. You can switch to a different week if you’re planning ahead. No need to fill every day—plan the days that matter to you (e.g. weeknights only) and leave the rest blank or for leftovers.
Step 2: Add recipes to days
For each day you want to plan, choose a recipe. You can pick from your own saved recipes in My recipes, or use the Discover tab to find and add public recipes. Click or tap the day, then select the recipe to assign. Repeat for each day you’re planning. You can change or remove a recipe anytime before you shop.
Step 3: Generate your shopping list
When your week is planned, create a shopping list from the meal plan. Foodedo will pull the ingredients from all the recipes you’ve added, combine them, and open your shopping list so you can review and edit. Add or remove items, then use that list for your shop (on paper or on your phone). You can create a new list each week or update an existing one.
Using the chalkboard for extras
Beyond the meal plan, you often need everyday items (milk, bread, kitchen staples) or one-off “we ran out of X” items. In Foodedo, the chalkboard is a quick place to add those. When you build or update your shopping list, you can include chalkboard items in the same list so one list covers both planned meals and ad-hoc needs.
Sharing with your household
If you’ve created or joined a household in Foodedo, your meal plan and shopping list can be shared with other members. They can see the plan, help edit the list, or take the list to the shop. Everyone works from the same plan and list, so there’s no “I didn’t know we needed that” or duplicate lists.
Next: discover more recipes
To keep your weekly plan varied, use Discover to browse public recipes and add them to your collection. When you find something you like, save it to My recipes and then add it to a day on your meal plan. For more on saving recipes from the web, read how to save and organise recipes from websites.
